Welcome!

Welcome to LIBRE.TOWN! This is Lianna's personal homepage.

Libre Town is a virtual town: my way of both expressing myself online and forming genuine connections with others via the web. In Libre Town, you may find my projects, shrine pages, blog posts, and many more little hypertext surprises.

It is part of the broader "web revival" movement, a loose community of those who reject social media and the modern internet, but still think the World Wide Web has the potential to facilitate amazing things! That's why we create and manage our own personal amateur homepages: our own corners of the World Wide Web. We connect with others through web-rings, chat-rooms, e-mail and the web experience itself.

The web revival can be considered part of hacker culture, a post-modernist art movement, or just a hobby; it's all in the eye of the beholder.

Check out the navigation bar to find out what Libre Town has to offer. Many pages have sub-pages, so feel free to click around!

I hope you enjoy your stay.

A Note on Hyperlinks

As described in the Hypertext Maximalist's Manifesto, there are two types of links on Libre Town. The colorless underlined passages that blend in are complementary hyperlinks leading to further resources, explanations or citations. In contrast, the bold, colorful links are the 'main' hyperlinks, important and essential to the passage's intent.

It is my goal to use this dual system to strike a balance between keeping Libre Town readable and linking to as many relevant, useful or interesting web resources as possible.

  • () · Added a new blog post called Localise Yourself: A Manifesto For Indigenous Subcultures. All articles on the thoughts page now feature word counts so you don't accidentally stumble into a way-too-long essay and get overwhelmed. Started adding more obscure semantic HTML tags throughout the site to better mark up existing content.
  • () · Well... Libre Town's files corrupted on its server. The last backup was taken right before the January update; I had to rebuild the update again with the help of the Web Archive. Sorry for the downtime...
  • () · Welcome home. After quite some absence, I am back! I updated my about page, added my daily pixelart challenge results to the Graphics page, and reworked the colour scheme of the whole website. Also added some new 'Friends of Libre Town' (buttons) to the sidebar!
  • () · Since I have been working on developing a video game, I added a page about it in the Programming page! Check out PICOBUN!
